NHE is now rated an "Exemplary School" (the highest rating attainable in the district) and that could not have been achieved without the tremendous partnership between teachers, parents and you - our neighbors. I would like to invite you to show your continued support of our wonderful school by joining our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Membership in the PTA is not limited to school attendees and their families... many people in our community choose to become members simply because they believe in us and want to participate in the continued success of our school. Membership in PTA is $5; one of the benefits is receiving a PTA Directory. This directory is a wonderful resource for those families in the community who have children that do not attend NHE. You will be able to find playmates for your children and perhaps new friends as well. All residents of our community are encouraged to become members - whether you're retired, are without children, just starting a family or have children in schools other than Northwood Hills! Again, please consider becoming a member of our PTA - your continued support is our greatest asset. Should you have any questions, or would like additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Jill Chris 972-661-2210 2003

Many now have or have had children here, and many of you have voted here. But if you haven't visited our facility recently, please know that you are always welcome to stop by for a tour. I especially like to show visitors around when children are here and in their classes. First-time visitors frequently remark on how well maintained our thirty-five year old facility is. Other comments I get often include how well behaved our students are and what interesting things they are work-ing on. We have a state of the art multi-media computer lab. Additionally, there are now at least three (soon to be five) computers in every classroom. Our math/ science enrichment lab (the NEST) is a "must see." Our average class size is 19 students. First through sixth graders are learning Spanish along with the standard elementary subjects. We have caring, well-trained teachers who work hard to challenge all of their diverse student population. And our wonderful PTA parents are continuously involved in finding ways to make NHE a better place. You can probably tell that I am excited about Northwood Hills Elementary School, and proud to have been principal here for the past sixteen years. Along with our faculty and staff, I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. Come see us! 2000
The new flag is a Northwood Hills Elementary School flag which was donated by the students who graduated from our sixth grade in 1999. They raised money to have a bench on our playground (received, but not yet installed). They had a little money left and decided to have a flag made. Blue, yellow and green are our school colors. Thanks for noticing and being interested. Everett Williams, principal June 2000The following article appeared in the Spring 2000 NHHA NewsletterNHE Principal Everett Williams says: The parking lot is one of the last projects funded by RISD's last bond election. It will net around twenty new spaces. The new lot is intended for faculty and staff. In the past about half of us have had to park out front or on the street on the east side of the school. I am going to insist that we all park in the new lot. I feel that it will be safer for parents to pick up children in the front and on the east side with fewer parked cars around. It will get our cars out from in front of our neighbors houses and will free up parking for parents and visitors. The lot is almost finished now. It should be lined the first week in July. ![]() Parking Lot on July 8th Richardson High SchoolExternal Links |
