Yahoo! Group: NorthwoodChatter (was: NWH-Chat)

This group is NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE NHHA (Northwood Hills Homeowners Association, Inc.). This is an "opt-in" group .. you are not a member unless you say YES.

The web can be a great place to discuss things of a common interest, but that has the potential for being abused. I've been a member of several of these Yahoo! groups for over 5 years, and know that (given a minimum of controls) they can be very safe from abuse.

Some quick ideas of how to use this forum:

• trading the names of good contractors;
• baby sitters;
• general how-do-I-do-this messages

Despite the name [Northwood Chatter] this is not a chat group, per se. Most of the exhanges will come in the form of emails from members to the group. There are some good features of the Yahoo! groups, and chat (Instant Messanging) between members is possible. You can also upload photos, etc. (my own picture - from a few years ago - is there).

The constraints I'm placing on the Northwood Chatter group are:

1. membership consists of anyone living in Northwood Hills (not just NHHA members);
2. only members of the group can email the group;
3. members may unsubscribe at any time (there will be no hard feelings);
4. members remain invisible unless you choose to participate.

Stuff that will get you banned

1. spamming;
2. blatant commercial solicitation (baby sitters, etc. excepted);
3. members of the group must play nice. Vicious messages will not be tolerated.
