The 1st Northwood Hills Golf Champions were crowned at Ridgeview Ranch on Monday, Oct. 11th. It was a close battle between Mott's Motley Monsters and Gooden's Gorgeous Gorillas.

The Goodens, with Mike, Dr. Mobley, Doc's son, and Doug Roper had a gross score of 58 that netted to 49.25. But Leo Mott, Ross Sanders, Bob Ladue, and guest ringer John Matera had a higher gross of 61, but it resulted in a net of 47.75, thus winning the championship.

The winners won $50 gift certificates each and the runners-up won $25, so not much was lost between 1st and 2nd, other than bragging rights.

Leo Mott also won a $50 grease & oil job (which his wife Connie said he needed badly) from Mendenhall's for closest to the pin.

Bryan "Big Knocker" Holiday, a last minute replacement for Scott Armstrong (who sold his spot to his father-in-law, Earl Barnette) won a $50 gift certificate from Gary Miars for straightest drive. Earl reports Bryan had to agree to give Scott all his winnings as part of the deal to let him play in such a prestigious tournament.

Everyone had a great time except Anne DiFiore, who kept wondering if she'd finish by 2pm (???). I think she was worried about missing lunch.

Special thanks goes to Ginnie Hood (Randy's wife) and Donah Baker (Larry's wife) for getting up early and registering the golfers as they arrived. They got real confused when they were asked to add-up the proceeds. Larry finally had to take his shoes and socks off to finish the counting. We broke even.
